About CMME

The Department of Chemical, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (CMME) at BIUST had its first student intake in 2016 for the BEng (Chemical Engineering) and in 2017 for the BEng (Materials & Metallurgical Engineering) programmes. The first cohorts of students for the BEng (Chemical Engineering) and BEng (Materials & Metallurgical Engineering) programme graduated in 2019 and 2020 respectively. The Department is unique in that it is the first and currently the only Chemical, Materials & Metallurgical Engineering Department in Botswana. The Department has fully equipped laboratories and houses a number of Industrial pilot plants which enhances student training and exposure to Industrial processes.
